Why is alkalinity important?
Sugars, grains and dairy increase the acidity of the body which in turn causes the body to release its stores of certain minerals to combat the acidity.
This causes mineral depletion especially quickly for children with Autism or Sensory Integration Dysfunction due to major food aversions or dietary restrictions that make it challenging to naturally replace those minerals.
Green juices help to restore those minerals with fresh, raw, nutrient dense ingredients that are loaded with readily available enzymes. These nutrients enter the blood stream immediately and in their totally natural state. Green juice can easily be your new best friend.
While you have to balance fructose levels carefully, green juices still do not need to be bitter and unpleasant.
My Toddler Approved Green Juice has been a staple in our family for as long as I can remember. This juice has just the right amount of sweetness, and as your children’s taste buds adjust you can decrease the ratio of fruit to veggies that you use.
Toddler Approved Green Juice
2 small apples
3 medium oranges
5 cups of spinach
3 cups of kale
1 cup of parsley
1 lime or lemon
Follow the instructions per your juicer as far as prepping the produce. Some juicers allow for using produce in its whole state while others require chopping and de-stemming.
Note >> When juicing leafy vegetables, be sure to pair them with a juicier vegetable or fruit. This will help the juicer to extract more nutrients and chlorophyll!
